North Pole Expedition Itinerary

Many are interested and excited to see the Expedition Itinerary in order to follow the Team's progress toward the North Pole. Once Dave and Chris depart from Longyearbyen for the Russian Weather Station the schedule will hinge on weather and other factors. However, here is the itinerary as it stands right now:

April 7, 2009

4:02 P.M. Leave Thunder Bay

4:42 P.M. Arrive in Minneapolis

7:30 P.M. Leave Minneapolis for Amsterdam

April 8, 2009

10:50 A.M. Arrive in Amsterdam

8:35 P.M. Leave Amsterdam for Oslo, Norway

NOTE FROM CHRIS

Note from Chris: I can almost imagine what it felt like in the early Apollo missions to do something never done before. We will be isolated in a hostile environment and out there on our own to a high degree. I think of Darren who will be circling out in Longyearbyen as the lunar command module with David and I heading towards our own giant leap at the Pole with the handicapped parking sign. David will be the new Niel Armstrong and I get to be Buzz Aldrin. It just doesn't get to be any better than that in my books. The adrenalin is certainly starting to pump a bit.

Chris and Dave's Daily Expedition Updates - cont.3

Dave and Chris Daily Log April 1

A million things going through our minds. Northern Canada hit with a major storm everyone staying inside and little movement outside. The temperature is dropping and we are hoping that this does not delay our departure for the final push for the pole from east or Greenland from Longyearbyen next week.

Chris and Dave's Daily Expedition Updates - cont.

March 24 - 31

David and Chris continue to train and meet with people who are of great support to the expedition. Last minute equipment checks have been continuous and the weather has come in very cold and stormy again in northern Canada (which helps with training)

We have been following the British survey team caught on the ice near the pole last week. Fortunately, their supply plane got through to them and resupplied them as things did not look to good for a while. Then freezing cold drove them into their tents with little relief. One person described it as "hell".

Chris and Dave's Daily Expedition Updates

March 18 -24 David and Chris have been reading themselves for what they now know will be an epic journey to the pole.
both team independence members have continued to train and look after the million and one things before they go.
They have arranged a day with the Nipigon Rotary Club, Schools and and great bunch of People at Nipigon's Scandia house.

Congratulations

Hi David:

Thanks very much for including me on that wonderful press release.

I am in total awe of your wonderful adventure. You have more spirit and bravado than most people I know.

With your permission I would like to forward this amazing news to some of my friends in the media business.

I particularly believe that this is big in NS as you are a native son setting out on this venture.

Suzanne has kept me somewhat up to date on the journey, but this release really brings it home and I feel strongly the message should go out to all.
